The rise of artificial intelligence is driving a surge in demand for computing power, and therefore electricity. That is the premise behind Datagreen, a Nice start-up that designs more energy-efficient data centres. It is deploying its first installations in Monaco with the operator Telis, Le Journal des Entreprises reported.

Datagreen claims three patented innovations: a modular design called Box-Design; “direct-to-chip” liquid cooling of processors, more efficient than air-conditioning server rooms; and recovery of the heat given off by servers so it can be reused, Actu-Environnement reported.

The company was founded in Nice in 2024 by six co-founders, including Julien Choukroun, its head of research and development, who is also in charge of artificial intelligence. It was named an “honoree” at the CES Innovation Awards 2025, the prizes of the major Las Vegas technology show.

The next step is to move from prototype to production. Julien Choukroun says the company aims to complete a first funding round by the summer to industrialise the modules.
