The big event of the weekend is run on Sunday 8 November. The Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes marathon starts at 8am on the Promenade des Anglais and finishes on the Boulevard de la Croisette. Besides the full distance, organisers offer a 20km race and a two-person relay. Runners cross the whole coastline and traffic will be disrupted along the route, so plan your journeys ahead.

Art lovers have until Sunday to see “Mirages du monde”, the retrospective devoted to Hervé Di Rosa at the La Malmaison art centre on the Croisette in Cannes. The show closes on 8 November, and no winter exhibition has been announced there yet.

Those who prefer museums are spoilt for choice in Nice: since late October, the Musée Matisse has been staging a dialogue between Henri Matisse and the American painter Alex Katz, on until 18 January.
